Thank you for being a part of the Magic City Young Professionals Kiwanis family. Our club has worked hard over the last number of years to establish our place within the Greater Birmingham community and find our service niche. That is, we’ve worked to decide what problems we what to solve for children in Birmingham. For 2016, that service begins with a shift in our meetings to allow us to better Have Fun & Help Kids by creating a Social Hour on the First Monday at Carrigan’s and a Work Session on the Third Monday at Chicfila in 5 Points South. This separation lets us have fun and get work done.

Last week, Magic City Young Professionals Kiwanians Kyle Pierce and Meggie Hall attended Kiwanis International Convention in Indianapolis to celebrate 100 Years of Kiwanis, learn ways to better serve our community, and grow our Kiwanis club’s impact. It wasn’t just meetings and speeches though! The week included a trip to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a baseball game, and tremendous fellowship & networking with Kiwanis members from around Alabama and across the globe. As we prepare for our 2015 Annual Meeting to elect officers for the 2015 – 2016 Kiwanis year, it is time for our first ever Annual Survey to determine what is working, what needs helps, and where we can better serve. Your Board of Directors wants to know your honest and real opinions of the role Kiwanis current plays in your life and our community. The development of the Magic City Young Professionals Kiwanis has been a long and wild ride, but it doesn’t stop here: we must continue to improve so that we can continue to serve the children of Greater Birmingham and the world. The second meeting of 2015 also took place in a corner of Carrigans. As the last “homegrown” meeting, it contained a special “100th Birthday of Kiwanis” celebration (Kiwanis was founded on January 21, 1915, so the actual centennial date of the organization was January 21, 2015.)
